IN it is possible that Iran is contributing to the commission of war crimes in Ukraine by supplying drones to Russia, said White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, quoted by Reuters, BTA reported.
“Civilians have been killed in Ukraine with their own weapons and attempts are being made to plunge the cities into cold and darkness,
which, in our view, puts Iran in a position where it can potentially contribute to the commission of large-scale war crimes,” Sullivan told reporters.
The United States has imposed sanctions on the companies and individuals it accused,
producing or transferring Iranian drones that Russia uses to attack civilian infrastructure in Ukraine, according to Reuters.
Sullivan, who accompanied US President Joe Biden on his visit to Mexico,
he also said he would discuss Iran’s threats with the new Israeli government. “We will overcome the differences we have in terms of tactics,” she added. Sullivan confirmed that she would visit Israel, but did not say when exactly that would happen.
The adviser said the US government has clarified that the Iranian nuclear deal
it is not a priority at the moment, and he believes diplomacy is the right way to ensure that the Islamic Republic does not acquire nuclear weapons.
