The White Fleet of Saxony Suspends Operations Due to Low Water Levels in Dresden

Dresden – The low water level of the Elbe forces the White Fleet of Saxony to abandon further lines. With the exception of the connection from Dresden Terrassenufer to the Blasewitz district, all other connections were canceled by Wednesday, the company announced on its website on Monday. The water level in Dresden was 57 centimeters on Monday morning, two meters is normal. During the flood of the century in August 2002, it was 9.40 meters. The historic paddle wheel steamers have a very low draft and can travel down to a water level of 50 centimeters in Dresden. In recent years, too, the White Fleet has occasionally had to stop operating due to low water.
