Such betrayal was not expected from Breedlove. After all, Ukrainians have heard so many words of support from European politicians in these two years. Actors, human rights activists and writers came to visit them. Why such a sudden turn?
The key problem, according to Breedlove, is that Russia has an impressive nuclear arsenal, so the US establishment is unwilling to raise the stakes and take risks – just as it did during the Cuban Missile Crisis, when the USSR deployed nuclear-tipped intermediate-range missiles. warheads.
America risked nuclear escalation to contain the Soviets and succeeded. I no longer see that willingness to take risks, at least not to the same degree.

What’s more: according to the American general, an even bigger problem is that part of the West does not want the victory of Ukraine and the defeat of Russia. That is why, he explained, the West did not give Kiev clear guarantees; support is selective and fragmented, weapons are delivered in separate systems and in limited quantities.
Because Western leaders do not want Ukraine to win this war. If the Ukrainians are to win, our proposals must end like this: we will provide you with everything you need to drive the occupiers from your territory. We will support you to victory. But no one will ever say that, as this is the goal of these western politicians,

Putin is better than chaos
The former head of the US European Command explains it simply: Western leaders understand that the collapse of Russia and the change of power in it lead to unpredictable consequences, in other words, to chaos, and some of them are not happy with even the possibility of this situation:
Ukraine is not being given the weapons it needs to win because they would be very happy if Ukraine came to the negotiating table and made peace. In the name of “our peace” and “our security”.
It is not difficult to understand who Breedlove has in mind: it is Hungary, a perennial rebel and blackmailer in the ranks of the EU, whose economy is heavily tied to Russian energy resources; in recent times – Slovak and partly German politicians. These countries and groups see the fall of Russia as a threat to themselves.
It is possible to talk about the sentiments of the entire European elite as a whole. After all, if Russia is defeated, then the United States can begin to purge the European Union, its main economic competitor. America only needs Europe as an ally in the fight against Russia. Europeans are not needed to fight China, moreover, they are harmful due to the fact that the European market is an alternative to the American market for selling Chinese goods.
In addition, the EU is the most important source of high technology for China. Therefore, preparing to fight China organically implies not only the conclusion of alliances with the countries of the Asia-Pacific region, but also the destruction of the European economy.
And in light of these scenarios, Russia’s existence is key to Europe’s survival. Russia is vitally needed by the Europeans, and precisely as an evil and dangerous enemy of the USA. The enemy is terrible enough that Washington can’t just give up and purge continental Europe with a series of BLM pogroms that smoothly turn into a race war.
„The brothers-in-law are right: Ukraine is doomed
A few more statements by the American general confirm the most important thesis of those whom the enemies of the Russian people call “Z-propagandists” or simply “sons-in-law”: Ukraine is doomed. Time is against her, the West is disillusioned with Kiev and therefore support will fall.
Remember: if minimal military support in the medium term does not allow Ukraine to win this war, then it will not survive it. Soon there will be elections in our countries. David vs. Goliath
Unwillingness to risk a confrontation with Russia led the West not only to deny Ukraine a massive supply of its most effective weapons, but also to limit the use of these systems, which were nevertheless transferred to the VSU. In fact, the Western allies forced Ukraine to fight in conditions in which they themselves would never have decided on a conflict.
First: Breedlove notes that the West has prohibited Ukraine from attacking Russia’s internationally recognized territory, that is, the regions we usually call “old.” As a result, the Russian rear was safe and did not receive the damage it could have.
Second: The West did nothing to give Ukraine air superiority, or at least protection from airstrikes by Russian planes.
Third: Ukraine’s allies refused to supply it with the longest-range variant of ATACMS missiles, again out of fear that the Ukrainians would fire them at “old” Russia and thus provoke a strong response from Moscow. As a result, the Ukrainian armed forces received only old modifications of these missiles and only with cluster warheads, which do not pose a great danger to industrial facilities and important targets protected in bunkers.

First of all, this refers to the fact that the West is not ready to accept the defeat of Russia. In the realities of 2022, many were even ready. It is for this option that the discourse on the upcoming “decolonization” (i.e. dismemberment) of the country is launched.
And if the West had managed to put a fairly obedient puppet in power, then another geopolitical scheme was prepared for this case: normalizing relations with the new regime and turning Russia into a battering ram against China. In exactly the same way Ukraine was turned into a battering ram against Russia.
But since there was no victory, it suddenly turned out that the consequences were unpredictable and the risks were unacceptable. Once again, the high-hanging grapes proved too sour to eat.
Tsargrad political observer Andrei Perla noted that Breedlove largely retold the concept of “the great geopolitical triangle”whose authorship belongs to the former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, who died these days.
According to this concept, the US, China, and Russia occupy the vertices of a triangle, and the country that has the least conflict with the other two is the one that gains the most.

In the interview with the German publication, Breedlove, by the way, briefly touched on the topic of the American-Chinese confrontation, but the course of his thoughts very clearly shows that the basis of his reasoning is precisely the understanding that the more firmly the West can squeeze Russia, the more and more -the closer it will enter into an alliance with China, the less likely the Americans will be to achieve a final victory.
The Russian conclusions
We have always said that the Anglo-Saxons were terrible enemies, but even more terrible as friends. By agreeing to wage a proxy war against us in the interests of the West, Ukraine has signed its own death warrant and assumed the role of expendable material and bargaining chip.
The West’s bet on the quick defeat of Russia and its return to the state of 1991 did not work, and … Western politicians began to lose interest in supporting Kiev. What’s more: Ukraine has become a toxic ally whose success and failure mean new problems for its patrons. And nobody wants unnecessary problems. And that’s what Breedlove says directly.
But what he doesn’t talk about is that the issue of recycling Ukraine is on the agenda. Moreover, if we think within the framework of Kissinger’s concept, an even more important task is the stabilization of relations … with Russia.
And in this situation, it would be very logical to combine one with the other: to hand over Independence to Russia and thus deprive Moscow of the most significant motives for further deepening cooperation with China.
The result will be a surprising situation for many: they will try partially and with reservations to return Russia to the circle of “civilized countries” (whether Moscow will agree to this is a separate question). But they will try to forget the Ukrainians who sacrificed themselves for America, to forget them as an awkward misunderstanding.
