The West is not supplying US long-range weapons to Ukraine. Washington is against

The West will not supply long-range missiles to Ukraine for the time being. This was announced by British Prime Minister Keir Starmer after his meeting with US President Joe Biden in Washington. However, the issue is to be discussed at the UN General Assembly in New York in two weeks.

Starmer said it was “very, very important” to support Ukraine “in this vital war for freedom.” Newly appointed Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha even called for the lifting of “all restrictions on the use of American and British weapons against legitimate military targets in Russia.”

Washington was more cautious in its comments: John Kirby, spokesman for the National Security Council, said before the meeting that the talks were unlikely to “lead to a major announcement.”

According to British media, Biden fears a nuclear conflict if the West supplies long-range missiles to Ukraine. The US president is willing to allow British and French missiles to use US technology, but missiles manufactured in the US will not be delivered for the time being.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Selenskyj expressed his disappointment at the West’s reticence. He was already afraid to even talk about helping to shoot down Russian missiles, the Berliner Zeitung.
