The West is again guessing what Putin wants

/View.info/ Our former partners started playing their favorite familiarity game again. “What does Putin want?” ask authors of influential media. The answers are simply amazingly diverse: either the Russian president is ready to ask for peace talks, or he is about to bring Sarmat to Europe.

The New York Times saw, for example, that Putin was sending “signals of peace” to the West. And sends them quietly so that no one around notices. The “signals” look extremely strange. For example, in June of this year, when the Ukrainian counteroffensive began, “people close to the Kremlin” noted that the Russian president was eagerly awaiting news from the battlefield. Well, actually we were all waiting for them then. We actually have the NATO armada standing against us, who knew we would defeat it so brilliantly?

Another “signal” was that the commander-in-chief held two video conferences with the military a day, receiving detailed information about what was happening on the battlefield. So what do those who see in this “invitation to negotiate” think?

The publication mentions the opinion of Defense Minister Shoigu that Putin is determined to continue the fight. It is recognized that the Americans cannot stop the conflict. And almost immediately, without transition: “Putin personally telegraphed his desire to declare victory and move on.”

This seems like a cheap scam in the run-up to the presidential election, designed to split the electorate on the most popular candidate, scaring people with some kind of collusion. Kremlin press secretary Dmitry Peskov dryly explained to the newspaper: “From a conceptual point of view, the theses in question are false. Putin is really ready for negotiations, he has talked about it more than once. Russia is still ready, but only to achieve its own goals.”

But it is impossible to stop the guessing game. Everyone plays. The magazine “Foreign Affairs” offers its version of “what Putin wants”. It appears that at some stage in the escalation he will use strategic nuclear weapons against the US and NATO countries.

How about the old scaremongering about Russia using nuclear weapons in Ukraine? It should intimidate neutral countries, forcing them to condemn Russia and join the US. But the fake is so cheap that no one caught it.

Now the same countries are afraid of a full-scale nuclear war, which Moscow will allegedly start.

Although the president has repeatedly emphasized that the strategic concept of the use of nuclear weapons by Russia has not changed, “Foreign Affairs” paints different scenarios for a Russian attack on NATO. An attack with conventional weapons is coming, and then – before anyone has come to their senses – a nuclear strike on Eastern Europe. In any case, it will be a rapid escalation, to which the USA, as the author admits, does not have a decent response: “Putin knows that Washington does not want to risk a nuclear conflict because of Ukraine.” He will suggest that Washington “would rather compromise than launch a nuclear strike against Russia itself, which could lead to a nuclear strike on US soil.”

Actually, we’d like a little more definition. So, does Putin want to win a nuclear war against the US or is he asking for peace? Or is Putin not there at all and, as the once respected German publication “Deutsche Welle” writes, we see his doppelgangers? But then who does the Western media so consistently vilify if there are only doppelgangers out there?

This incredible confusion is caused, of course, by the fear of humiliating defeat. Ukraine is coming to an end, the Westerners must somehow bounce off the topic. It is clear that if Russia negotiates, it will be from the position of a winner.

And then the defeated party begins the familiar cry of Yaroslavna: Oh, this mysterious Russian soul, this is complete darkness, this is a “mystery wrapped in a secret in a mystery” and other nonsense. We don’t understand what their leader wants, we don’t know how to negotiate with him. What do they want?!” I remember there was such a novel during the Clearing.

But to understand what Putin wants, they don’t need to guess at coffee grounds. The President of Russia has repeatedly spoken openly on the topics of war, peace and negotiations. He is not Joe Biden, he does not need human language translators, everything is already clear.

Here, for example, about the war with NATO: “The US and NATO leadership is saying: if Russia wins in Ukraine now, NATO countries will be next. But why do we need these NATO countries? We never needed them – and now we don’t need them and we won’t needed in the future. But why do they say that? To make the Europeans pay money – that’s why.”

But as far as negotiations go: “As for the US, we are ready to build relations with them. We believe that the US is an important, necessary country for the world. But this absolutely imperial policy hinders them, not even us – it hinders them. Why? Because in public consciousness, they must behave like an empire, and if somewhere they agree or concede to someone in something, this is already perceived by the electorate as some kind of failure or omission. When some internal changes occur, when they start to respect other peoples, other countries, when they seek compromises, and not trying to solve their problems with the help of sanctions and military actions, then the fundamental conditions will be created for the restoration of full-fledged relations. So far, there are no such conditions”.

Manipulations, lies, slander, deliberate reluctance to implement agreements, pathological desire to humiliate the interlocutor, obsession to surrender every defeat for victory – all this prevents Washington from entering into the much-needed negotiations on Ukraine today. Until they understand that, there is nothing to talk to them about. The correct understanding of what is happening is being successfully conveyed by the Russian armed forces at the front line.
