The developments in the camps of the two largest opposition parties have also affected the attendances in the Parliament. An experienced parliamentary official explained that for at least two months, that is, until the internal party procedures in SYRIZA and PaSoK are completed, no great mobility is expected in the Parliament.
Not even in terms of legislative interest are we expecting any surprise or any bill that will greatly activate the parliamentarians. Not of course that there won’t be bills that concern the everyday life of citizens. But the absences of MPs in recent months are enough. Vacant seats are something that is heavily commented on, with blue-collar MPs being the ones missing the most. Something that the president of Freedom of Navigation, Zoe Konstantopoulou, often mentions from the floor of the Parliament.
But even in a sluggish Parliament, there is no lack of wells. The past week was of intense interest to all 3 major parties. The issues that concerned them in particular were SYRIZA, which every day has developments like reality television, possibly survival, and the debate of the candidates for the leadership of the PASOK, which was finalized for Tuesday, September 24. However, talk of the town, it was the 11 blue rebels with the question they submitted to the finance minister about the red loans.
The opposition… came to them from the right
They caused the biggest debates in the meeting room of the Parliament and in the coffee shop. It is typical of the discussion of center-left executives who commented with humor that the blue people put their glasses on them and that finally the opposition… came out from the right. In fact, a SYRIZA member of parliament, he was sitting at the same table as one of the 11. Possibly he was asking how they can improve in parliament. However, he avoided sitting with his own comrades, as they also belong to a different internal party wing.
An MP of PASoK, he used to comment ironically on what was happening in SYRIZA, especially the fierce rivalry between two old comrades. Both coexisted in PaSoK, switched to SYRIZA, but it seems that in the end more divides them than unites them. They now make their personal clarifications public. “Far from us”, he pointed out characteristically.
Of course, the discussions also included comments on the purchase of carpets by the Ministry of Tourism. The harshest criticism was made by New Democracy MPs, arguing that such things make it even more difficult for all of us to image.
In a smaller well, the conversation was about the upcoming pre-day discussion at the level of political leaders on the fires. This is expected to take place at the end of the fire season. Then the procedures in the PASOK will be completed and it is interesting whether Nikos Androulakis or another person will be on the floor of the Parliament. Since the internal party elections in SYRIZA have not yet taken place, the leader of the official opposition will be Nikos Pappas. These data alone attract interest.
