“It is with sadness in our hearts that we have to announce that the actor Rudolf Jelínek passed away peacefully in his sleep this morning. Beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather,” she stated daughter Barbora Hartová with her family for ČTK.
A native of Kutnohorsk, Jelínek graduated in acting at DAMU in 1957. Subsequently, he worked in several theaters, including Prague’s Divadlo pod Palmovkou and Theater na Vinohrady. He was successful in the field of radio and dubbing, when in 2020 he even won the František Filipovský Award for lifetime excellence.
Jelínek starred in more than 150 films, TV series and productions. Among his best-known roles are the astronaut Toník in Karel Zeman’s film Baron Prášil, Jan Kubiš in The Assassination or the role of Major Jiří Hradec in the infamous series 30 cases of Major Zeman.
