Soest district – The region is slowly moving into autumn with a sensual and multifaceted music program. This includes top-class events such as the Westfalen Classics chamber music festival, the 11th Murder on the Hellweg literature festival, a milonga evening and a tribute to Elvis.

Weekend tips: Homage to Elvis

“Rio – The Voice of Elvis” will be stopping in Werl with a big band and choir on its “Gospel Session & Elvis in Concert ’77” tour on Saturday, September 14th. From 8 p.m., the show will return to Elvis’ roots, gospel, in the Werl town hall. In the second set, the show will present the greatest highlights of his tours. With titles such as “And I Love You So” and “Unchained Melody,” Rio and his ensemble will give an insight into the legend’s last concerts. Weekend tips: Comedy at the train station

John Doyle will be stopping off at the Werl Kulturbahnhof on Saturday, September 14. The Notos Quartet from Berlin wants to re-establish unknown and forgotten piano quartet works in the concert repertoire on Sunday, September 15th, from 6 p.m. in the Jakobikirche in Lippstadt. These include works by Franz Schubert, Béla Bartók and Johannes Brahms. Romantic, elegiac and exuberant, the quartet takes you into late-romantic sound worlds. The Westfalen Classics chamber music festival opens its autumn edition with the Echo-Klassik award-winning ensemble Spark on Friday, September 13th, at 7 p.m. in the hall of the Lönne company in Lippstadt, Bertramstrasse 9. The ensemble brings together three icons of Western music: Johann Sebastian Bach as the forefather of classical art music, Luciano Berio as one of the most influential composers of the 20th century and the Beatles as titans of pop music. At the Milonga, the dance festival of Argentine tango, the Suzanna Tango Project Trio with Suzanna (vocals), Alice Dixon (cello) and Gerhard A. Schiewe (accordion) will be playing on Friday, September 13th, from 8 p.m. in the Schützenhalle Einigkeit, Danziger Ring 26, in Soest. The organizer is the Matadero Tango Club Soest. During the culinary forest walk with BUND-Soest on Sunday, September 15th, from 2 to 4 p.m., you can nibble on wild berries, wild herbs and nuts. The opening show for the literature festival Mord am Hellweg XI in Unna on Saturday, September 14th, at 7 p.m. in the Kurpark offers pure excitement. The Dortmund cabaret artist Fritz Eckenga puts the crime genre to the test and is supported by Sascha Ott (“Die Physikanten”), authors such as Ursula Poznanski and actor Peter Lohmeyer.
