The first more noticeable cold this winter is coming

The Mediterranean cyclone, which created the first serious winter situation in the country, continues its movement to the northeast over the Black Sea towards Ukraine. In the meantime, an invasion of cold air has begun, with which the first more noticeable cooling of this winter is to come.

On Saturday, it will remain cloudy over the whole country, with minimal breaks in southern Bulgaria. However, there will be precipitation in the northern half of the country and around the Black Sea. In the course of the day, snow will fall longer in North-Eastern Bulgaria and in the Rhodopes. A strong northerly wind will blow in Dobrudja, which will create a risk of traditional for the region drafts, and low temperatures will bring the risk of ice. Daily temperatures in the country on Saturday – from 0 to 5-6 degrees.

During the night and on Sunday, snowfall will continue in central northern and northeastern Bulgaria, but will be weaker, with a tendency to stop during the day. A cold wind will continue to blow in the northeast. There will be cloud breaks in Western Bulgaria. Temperatures with slight fluctuations will maintain their values.

In the last days of January, there will be cloud breaks and scanty precipitation. On Tuesday, short-term snow will fall on the mountains and some foothills, but it will be particularly windy. There will be no precipitation on Wednesday, but early in the morning the thermometers will show minus 7 – minus 8 degrees.

In the second half of the first week of February, the passage of a new Mediterranean cyclone, combined with cold arctic air, is expected. Again, there will be more significant snowfall with the accumulation of new snow cover.

It will snow on the mountains during the weekend – heavier on Saturday. It will be cold with icy gusts of wind that will intensify the feeling of cold. Daytime temperatures will be in the range of minus 3 to minus 10 degrees, depending on the altitude.
