Soloists – order after the short program:
SAITAMA. Slovak figure skater Ema Doboszová did not advance to Friday’s free skates at the World Championships in the Japanese city of Saitama.
In Wednesday’s soloist short program, she achieved a new personal record of 53.01 points, but it was only enough for her to take 28th place. Next, 24 competitors fought their way, the defending champion Kaori Sakamotová won the best position.
Nineteen-year-old Doboszová made her first start at the World Championships.
“Ema ran the short program very decently. She ran her optimum, even slightly above average. Nevertheless, she was 1.65 points away from participating in the final.
My subjective feelings are that she performed a very decent program indeed. However, the competition field is full of very high-quality and strong female competitors.
I assume that this will be a good and powerful experience for her. He will definitely use it to benefit his future starts at championship competitions,” said the president of the Slovak Figure Skating Association, Jozef Beständig.
Her sister Helena also left a nice message for Doboszová on Instagram:
“Ever since my sister was a little girl, we’ve been watching the World Figure Skating Championships on TV. And here I am today, buying a subscription to Eurosport to see her perform and her personal best score. I’m so proud.”
Slovakia will still be represented at the championship by Adam Hagar among the men, and in the dance couple competition Anna Šimová will appear alongside Kirill Aksenov.
