The waterspout yesterday in the late afternoon and the heavy rains have caused devastation throughout the region of A Coruña. The most spectacular, comes from the Gadis supermarket in O Burgo. The rains have caused part of its roof to collapse and the corridors between the stalls of the products literally look like a flood. The roof could not support the weight of the falling water and finally broke in the textile area. A large jet of water began to fall around the supermarket, it looked like a waterfall. The City Council of Culleredo deployed a special emergency device to coordinate troops and respond to incidents.

Scare also in O Burgo, O Seixal, Perillo, Cambre and the Puente de A Pasaxe, with flooded roads and practically no visibility. Many of the vehicles that were circulating late yesterday had to stop and stay on the maple because of the danger that driving in this situation entailed.

The towns of Sada, Betanzos and Bergondo, in the As Mariñas region, have also been the main affected areas. Bergondo, with the rising of the Maior river in Lubre and floods in the polygons, Miodelo and the Nacional VI. Several roads had to be cut. In Betanzos, Civil Protection intervened due to a flood in a house and in the street of the health center. Sada escaped serious incidents but bags of water did appear on the roads.

As for Miño, some streets in the Costa Miño urbanization were flooded and iron fell from a scaffolding of a construction site on Carreira street.

In O Temple, the sewers jumped, flooding the road and the terrace awnings could not contain the waterspout, so customers had to take refuge inside the establishments.

In Cambre, the storm affected the O Graxal school, where Civil Protection attended, and a wall fell in Pravio, forcing traffic to be cut on the road that connects the town with Armental. On Constitución Street, several garages were flooded.

The reason for all these incidents, the coincidence of high tide with intense rainfall for a scarce half hour. The local police and emergency services have had several incidents due to flooded lowlands and falling walls.

As for the city of A Coruña, little or not at all affected by incidents, the firefighters of A Coruña intervened on Teresa Herrera street to dismantle an antenna that was left hanging from a building after being knocked over by gusts of wind.
