The Swiss manufacturer IWC Schaffhausen has joined the artist Miguel Caravaca to organize in his boutique “Las Cryptopelas”, the first exhibition of digital art (crypto art) and analog art of the Madrid creator. It can be visited until July 28.
Coinciding with the launch of his new Big Pilot collection, Swiss manufacturer IWC Schaffhausen has launched a global campaign featuring stories from artists and enterprising creators talking about their relationship with the Big Pilot watch. One of those chosen artists has been the Madrid Miguel Caravaca, who throughout his career has always sought to “represent with his works realities that arise from his reflections thanks to the observation and study of the human body, and especially, focusing on the face and its expressions as a mirror of the human soul“, as he explains himself. His objective is to share with the public this projection of his inner world and invite the viewer to start his own process of reflection through a highly studied aesthetic, where color and shape are the main transmitters. The aesthetic referents of the artist are the surveyor abstracta, but also the urban art.
Hybrid collection
For the exhibition that IWC has just opened in its Madrid boutique, Caravaca has created a hybrid collection. On one side are the analog works, which have a format of 100 x 100 cm (acrylic and enamel on canvas) and, on the other, the NFTs en formato1.024 x 1.080 pxeles, which can be viewed on the Opensea platform. The collection is numbered and makes a guide to philately, to the tradition of collecting, numismatics, or haute horlogerie. With these works, which are not for sale at the moment, the artist invites the public “to make a reflection on the impact of technology on the environment, but also of the need we have to live with her, and that we do it in the most responsible way possible “.
What an NFT
Until recently no one knew what an NFT (Non -Fungible Tokens) was and it turns out that these digital assets have revolutionized the market for art and digital goods. It is important to know that NFTs works are unique. NFTs cannot be interchanged, no two NFTs are the same. For the cubist artist Miguel Caravaca, “NFTs are the digital version of stamps, art or any other tangible or intangible product to which a series of users end up conferring a value. The value of gold and silver” is purely cultural ” , and that is why as our contribution to culture we want to give value to digital art. We are bringing together what you touch and see what you do not touch (but you can see). Before we attach value to tangible goods that we can touch and see (gold, stamps, works of art), and now we increasingly value intangible goods that we mostly see, but probably cannot touch.“.
The exhibition can be visited in the boutique that the Swiss firm has in Ortega y Gasset, July 15-28. Open from monday to saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. More information, here.
