The watch world visits Vienna

From November 8 to 10, 2024, numerous renowned brands from the watch industry will once again be presenting themselves as part of the “Die Presse” SHOW in Vienna’s Marx-Halle.

The Swiss watch industry is still doing very well, despite all the doom and gloom in various business media. There is no need to worry about it. Despite weakening markets, such as China, others are on the verge of becoming one of the top ten sales giants: India, for example. And Europe? The domestic market remains stable. Above all because retailers have been busy buying again in 2024 and are hoping for a positive mood, easing of inflation and a gradual increase in the desire to buy, which, according to the results of the first quarter, has room for improvement. This also applies to Austria. The fact that the prices of some models have risen sharply does not make things any easier. But what has become cheaper? One positive thing to note is that the waiting times for some models have now become much shorter. Deliveries are being made again.

Despite countless new innovations, the watch industry is deeply traditional and conservative. And that’s a good thing. Buying a watch is a matter of trust, the old motto still applies – and so it is extremely gratifying to hear and read that the world’s major watch brands are no longer only relying exclusively on their own boutiques, but are also increasingly looking to cooperate with specialist retailers. A trend that can also be seen at the Vienna Watch Fair as part of the “Die Presse-SCHAU”. Incidentally, this is entirely in the interests of the visitors, who can look forward not only to discussions with leading brand representatives, but also to a reunion with their regular jeweller.

Revival

Rolex CEO Jean-Frédéric Dufour confirmed in an interview a few weeks ago that watch fairs are back in high demand, and even the Swatch Group is approaching the topic again. Three of the group’s absolute top brands will be taking part in the Geneva Watch Days for the first time in 2024, reports the NZZ. The fourth edition of the Vienna Watch Show next November will prove that you don’t necessarily have to travel to Switzerland to see great watches from brands such as Jaeger-Le Coultre, Chopard, Ulysse Nardin, Girard-Perregaux, Speake Marin, Parmigiani Fleurier, Franck Muller, Longines or Zenith. With more than 10,000 visitors!
