Trae Young tied the score with a layup with 8.2 seconds left before the Warriors’ last chance. Young made four crucial free throws at the end of the first overtime and finished with 30 points and 14 assists.
Looney grabbed a career-high 21 rebounds and finished with 14 points and five assists.
Thompson hit 21 for 39 and his 10 triples matched his best performance on the course. He put Golden State ahead with a 3-pointer with 18 seconds left in overtime after tying the score moments earlier with another.
Donte DiVincenzo grabbed a crucial offensive rebound and hit a 3-pointer with 0.6 seconds left to force overtime after Thompson and Jordan Poole missed long shots on the same play.
John Collins scored 21 of his 25 points after halftime and dished out 13 assists as the Hawks rallied from a halftime low of 21. Dejounte Murray also had 25 points, along with 10 rebounds and seven assists.
