The Warning Signs of High Blood Cholesterol and its Life-Threatening Consequences

High blood cholesterol is a disease that may not affect the health of the body at the beginning of its occurrence, but as its levels rise, the person infected with it may enter the circle of danger that may threaten his life.

High cholesterol in the blood has initial signs referred to by doctors of the American Heart Association, which are warning signs that appear on the lower extremities.

The feeling of heaviness in the legs is one of the first warning signs. The severe pain that increases with walking, regardless of the distance, may indicate an increase in harmful cholesterol.

Another warning sign is recurrent spasms and seizures in the lower extremities, especially in the toes and heels. These painful spasms generally occur at night or when lying down.

Non-healing of wounds in the feet is a strong indicator, according to doctors, as it indicates poor blood circulation and insufficient blood flow to the feet.

Although these symptoms and signs may vary from one person to another, and the majority ignores them, and they do not feel the significance of their dangerous indicators, but doctors have another opinion, as they can be a major evidence that the patient has crossed the threshold of the normal level of cholesterol.

In this context, interventional cardiology consultant Dr. Muhammad Andron said in an interview with the morning program on Sky News Arabia:

Bad cholesterol is either hereditary or as a result of the nature of food and diet. Its complications lie in clogged and narrowed arteries, heart and stroke. High genetic cholesterol gives morphological symptoms such as fatty masses in the initial stages. Treatment depends on the person himself in terms of risk factors. Also, the treatment depends mainly on diet and losing excess weight.
