The warm spring weather continues in southern Norway – VG

HOT: The sun is shining and warming over southern Norway during these spring days. Some places can expect up to 20 degrees, according to meteorologists.

Long periods of sunshine and a degree that constantly creeps up to 20 degrees, is the weather forecast for southern Norway throughout the week. In the north, on the other hand, there may be cool precipitation.

– The temperature can reach up to 20 degrees in the areas located within the coast in southern Norway, says on-duty meteorologist Martin Granrød to NTB.

The reason is a high pressure that settles out in the Norwegian Sea, which sends warm temperatures inland. The temperature in the coastal towns will be somewhat characterized by cool temperatures from the sea.

Some areas in the north will experience periods of scattered precipitation and a fall on the degree scale until Sunday.

And on Wednesday, meteorologists report that it is warmer in Oslo than Barcelona and Athens:

Summer vibes in the south

– The cities that are a bit inland get the best temperature. We have seen in recent days that Notodden and Nesbyen in the east, Værnes in Trøndelag and Etne in Western Norway have had very good weather, says Granrød.

Also in the mountains it will be nice in the days ahead. The meteorologist says that even though the temperature is lower in the mountains, it will not be felt because the sun will warm.

WARMEST IN INLAND: The best weather is in the areas within the coast. Cold sea temperatures prevent the heat from unfolding completely in the coastal towns.

– In some places you will not notice the difference between 16 and 18 degrees. The sun is so high in the middle of the day that it warms well anyway, he says.

– Is it the taste of summer we get now?

– There are at least some very nice spring days we see now. We’ve had some of them already, and the great weather will continue this week. Next week is more uncertain, says Granrød.

Varying cloud cover in the north

– North of Helgeland, they keep the good weather from the south, says the meteorologist.

While further north of the West Coast, sleet may occur on Thursday and Friday. There will be more and more clouds and the temperature will be around six to seven degrees.

On Saturday, however, there will be longer periods of sunshine, according to Granrød.

Spitsbergen will have partly cloudy weather with light snow. On Sunday, they will improve, but the temperature will still drop to between 10 and 15 degrees below zero, he says.

UV radiation and fire hazard

– I would like to remind you that there is an increased risk of grass fires in several places in southern Norway this week, Granrød says.

Between 15 April and 15 September, it is not permitted to grill or light fires in or in the areas around forests and other outfields due to increased fire risk.

In addition, there is high UV radiation in the mountain areas due to high sun. In this connection, the Directorate for Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety (DSA) has also sent out a guide with tips to avoid damage from the sun’s rays:

1. Limit the time in strong sun.

2. Seek shade.

Wear clothes, something on your head and sunglasses.

Use plenty of sunscreen, factor 30 or higher.
