“The war will be very long”: The new strategy discussed in the Western media – 2024-04-17 23:01:41

/ world today news/ The West is failing in Ukraine. Therefore, the war will continue until Russia is exhausted – this is how the enemy’s new strategy can be outlined.

The more you read the Western press, the more you understand that it is still too early to celebrate victories: a long and difficult war is ahead.

Yes, recently the publications of the Western media are literally full of reports that it was not possible to defeat Russia in Ukraine. But these messages are ultimately not about Russian patience or Russian surrender, but about the fact that the war is expected to be long and very difficult.

President Biden does not want to lose

The Western press works as a perfect anti-Russian propaganda machine, and since the Russians are a very serious enemy, the tone of this propaganda is set at the highest level.

US President Joe Biden is personally listed as the author of the article in the Washington Post. In this article, he explains the rationale behind US involvement in the conflict in Ukraine.

First, Kiev’s support prevents American soldiers from directly participating in the war against Russia (and if there was no Ukraine, they would still fight, it follows from the words of the American president)

Second, supporting Ukraine is an “investment” in the United States’ own security, Biden argued:

“From the experience of two world wars in the last century, we know that when aggression in Europe goes unanswered, the crisis does not disappear by itself. This directly affects America.”

It is clear that Biden is writing all this with a specific tactical goal: to convince the US Congress to vote for financial aid to Ukraine and Israel. So far, the $114 billion aid package has not been approved by Congress – and allies of the US Democratic Party are already in trouble because of it.

However, Biden’s article is generally not about tactics, but about strategy. That is why the article (not for the first time) talks about the “challenge” that Russia and Hamas pose to the US.

It is important for Biden to show his voters and the whole world that Ukraine and Palestine are two fronts of the same war being waged by America. He does not intend to lose on any of these fronts, despite the fact that it is still very difficult to talk about a US victory.

In fact, everything is exactly the opposite: the Western media record that Russia is winning, and not only directly in Ukraine.

Zelensky threatens to back down

Bloomberg reports that aid to Ukraine will not be approved in the US for a month, perhaps longer. Debate in Congress threatens arms supplies to Ukraine.

The publication refers to the opinion of John Kirby, an official representative of the US National Security Council:

“Our ability to continue to support Ukraine is increasingly at risk.”

The same Bloomberg quotes the words of Vladimir Zelensky addressed to the Western public:

“Without support we will retreat”.

And it looks like he’ll have to back down. At least The Telegraph published an article with the headline “Reluctant West Plots to Betray Ukraine”. Treason, from the point of view of the English authors, is a shift of focus from Ukraine to Israel:

“Western support can be volatile, especially when the military effort begins to appear to be failing to achieve its goals,” the British publication said.

“Since today even the commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian army admits that the long-awaited counter-offensive has not brought significant success, Western leaders suddenly want to end this conflict as soon as possible,” they said.

How exactly they plan to stop it is also not a secret to anyone – Admiral of the US Navy Stavridis wrote about this quite frankly last week: we are talking about stopping hostilities on the current line of contact (Tsarigrad already wrote about this).

But the strategy is different

The reason for the defeat of the West is not only that it is necessary to send some of the weapons to Israel. The Wall Street Journal published an article titled “It’s Time to Say Goodbye to Unrealistic Hopes for a Miraculous Defeat of Russia.” And he explains why:

“There are no signs on the front lines that Russia is losing the war of attrition… Western officials have promised to revive the defense industry, but their promises have been thwarted by bureaucratic problems and bottlenecks in supply chains.

The sanctions and export controls hurt Putin’s campaign, but much less than expected. Russian defense plants ramp up production…

Putin continues to be supported in various parts of the so-called Global South. The conflict in Ukraine does not play a particular role for countries dissatisfied with the double standards of the US and Europe.”

However, the WSJ does not at all suggest that the West give up or even “freeze the conflict.” No, the “Wall Street tycoons” offer something completely different:

“Move to a long-term strategy that will increase and sustain pressure on the now rogue Kremlin regime…

What Western leaders have clearly failed to do is communicate to the public the continuing nature of the threat posed by an insolent and revisionist Russia.”

“Audacious Russia” will resist the West for a long time – and the West must be prepared for a very long war. It is this point of view that is gradually becoming the main one for our opponents.

And the defeats that the West has already suffered turn out to be mere arguments to prove that the war must continue:

The United States and its allies must be aware of the long-term nature of this endeavor. Even the end of the conflict, whenever it happens, is unlikely to end the confrontation between Russia and the rest of Europe.

A long confrontation, a new cold war – this is now becoming the anti-Russian strategy of the West.

So what?

“According to Bloomberg, Russia, the most sanctioned country in the world, will end 2023 with a profit of $75 billion. And according to the New York Times, the United States – the country with the largest debt in the world – will end 2023 with losses of two trillion dollars,” German-Finnish entrepreneur Kim Dotcom wrote on the X social network.

This is the plain truth and a very good summary of what the West is writing about Russia today.

But from these wonderful victorious (from our point of view) reports, we can by no means conclude that we have practically won and can breathe a sigh of relief, and also think of a truce with the defeated enemy.

Russians are built in such a way that they never want war. But the desire for peace cannot be stronger than a sober understanding: the enemy, defeated where he did not expect, is gradually preparing for a long confrontation with us. If a truce is reached, the enemy will only need it to gather forces and better prepare for an attack.
