THE WAR IN UKRAINE: Russian forces regroup to step up attacks east – Old Continent – World – NOVA News

Russian forces in Ukraine are regrouping to step up attacks in the east. This is shown by the latest NATO assessments.

Britain claims that Russia is redirecting reinforcements between 1,200 and 2,000 troops from Georgia to Ukraine.

In another video address, President Volodymyr Zelensky said the situation in southern Ukraine and Donbas remained extremely complicated. He confirmed that Russia was gathering new troops around the besieged city of Mariupol. According to him, Ukrainian forces pushed Russian troops out of Kyiv and Chernihiv.

Moscow has said the two cities will no longer be the focus of attacks, but instead Russia will shift its efforts to Donbass in eastern Ukraine.

In his address, the president announced that he had fired two senior members of Ukraine’s national security service, and described Zelensky’s Russian troops in a particularly colorful language.

“Throughout March and the five days of February, the invaders are trying to penetrate our home from different directions – from the earth, from the sky, from the sea. They crawl, fly, sail. They have so much evil, so much thirst for destruction, that they remind us not of people, but of something beyond. Monsters that burn and rob, that attack and tend to kill. “Some hell of a chimera,” he said.

NOVA international editor Lyubomir Boyadzhiev said in the studio of “Hello, Bulgaria” that there is no withdrawal of Russian troops from Ukraine, but rather a regrouping. So far, there is a movement north to Belarus, where the Russians can refuel and supply.

“The truth is that the Russians have complete control over the airspace in Ukraine and the attacks on Kyiv continue through the air,” he added.

The Russians have handed over control of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant to the Ukrainians in writing. According to our international editor, this could mean that Russia is running away from responsibility for what will happen to the nuclear power plant.

The Russians have promised a temporary ceasefire in Mariupol for humanitarian purposes. 45 Ukrainian buses went to the besieged city to take out civilians, but according to authorities, they were blocked and barred from Mariupol.
