The war in Ukraine – New Russian general killed

Major General Vladimir Frolov, deputy commander of the Russian military’s 8th Army, was laid to rest in St. Petersburg on Saturday.

He is said to have been killed in action in Ukraine, reports the Russian state news agency Tass.

The Governor of St. Petersburg, Alexander Beglov, is said to have attended the ceremony.

If the Ukrainians’ claims are true, he is the eighth Russian general killed in Ukraine since the start of the war.

Retired Lieutenant General Arne Bård Dahlhaug has previously described it as “unusual” that these are killed in battle.

He thinks it was due to a need to send generals to “stiffen up” the front. It is common in the Russian military, but not seen through NATO eyes.

Dagbladet has previously mentioned several of the Russian generals who are alleged to have been killed in Ukraine.

The first of them is said to have fallen as early as February 28, just four days into the war, then Major General Andrei Sukhovetsky (47), supreme leader of the Russians’ 7th airborne division, was killed in battle. This was confirmed by the officers’ association in the 47-year-old’s home territory Krasnodar.
