The war in Ukraine – It’s almost empty

Russian forces will soon be without Iranian-made Shahed drones, says Defense Minister of Ukraine Oleksiy Reznikov.

According to Reznikov, Russia will have only 90 “kamikaze drones” left.

Tankesmia ISW writes that Russia has increased the use of these drones in order to be able to continue attacks against Ukrainian infrastructure without using more valuable weapons.

This means that Russian forces will likely be able to carry out only a handful of large drone strikes in Ukraine until they receive another drone delivery from Iran, ISW writes.

Reznikov also says that Russia has used about 81% of its stockpile of strategic missiles and 19% of its stockpile of tactical missiles.

Tankesmia writes that Russia has not been able to produce enough missiles of its own to support the invasion of Ukraine.

A country will normally ramp up the production of missiles, rockets, and other weapon systems and munitions before waging a major war. Russia has not done this, writes ISW.

Nor have they mobilized industry sufficiently. This may be due to fears of further upheaval in the Russian economy.
