Vladimir Putin is said to have asked Ramzan Kadyrov to ensure Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi was killed. This is supported by Ukrainian intelligence Wall Street Journal.
Kadyrov’s forces have become notorious for their brutal behavior in Ukraine.
On February 14, the Chechen leader wrote a cryptic message on his Telegram channel:
– Mr. Zelenskyj, the time has come, the clown show is over.
According to Ukrainian intelligence, the mission was supposed to be a sort of “bonus” for Kadyrov – who is believed to be ruling Chechnya at the mercy of Putin, writes the Swedish newspaper The Espresso.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov vehemently denies the contract killing allegations.

In the early days of the war, Kadyrov’s forces were among those trying to enter the Ukrainian capital, Kiev.

At the same time as Russian and Chechen forces approached Kiev, President Zelensky and his family entrenched themselves in the presidential palace.
