SOLDER – The Kiev military claims its missile strike killed more than 100 Russian soldiers in a brutal battle in Soledar, Donetsk, eastern Ukraine.

The claim comes after the Russian mercenary group, the Wagner Group, announced that its units had killed more than 500 pro-Ukrainian soldiers.

Wagner Group also claims to have seized the entire Soledar area, but Kiev has dismissed this claim.

Ukraine’s military said the Russians “went to hell together” as missiles and shells rained down on them in coordinated attacks.

“More than 100 Russian soldiers went together to hell in the Soledar area. This happened thanks to the coordinated work of the SSO soldiers [Pasukan Operasi Khusus]gunners and rocket launchers,” the Ukrainian military said in a statement on Thursday (12/1/2023), as quoted AFP.

“The concentration of the enemy in several areas was noticed by the Special Operations Forces operators. Artillery was directed at the enemy, and the Tochka-U tactical missile complex was also used in one of the areas,” the Ukrainian military continued.

“As a result of these multiple attacks, the destruction of over 100 invaders, 2 machine gun positions, and 2 mortar rounds has been confirmed.”

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said fighting was still raging in Soledar after the Russian mercenary group Wagner Group earlier said it had control of it.

In his daily address on Wednesday, Zelensky insisted the front was “holding out”. “The terrorist state and its propagandists are trying to pretend they have achieved some success in Soledar,” said Zelensky. “But the fighting continues.”
