the war: – Highly pregnant woman died after attack

During the attempted resuscitation and treatment for shock, a caesarean section must have been performed.

– The child was lifeless, and after 30 minutes of resuscitation on the woman, both were declared dead, the surgeon who operated on the woman, Timur Marin, tells AP.

It was Wednesday last week that the children’s hospital was bombed. According to the city mayor, Serhij Orlov, 17 people were injured and three killed.

Pictures of the now dead woman went around the world when she was carried out after the attack. In the picture, she is lying on a stretcher while holding on to her stomach. A video, allegedly filmed by the same photographer shortly after the attack, shows the woman stroking her bloody stomach. It writes ABC News.

– Kill me now!

The woman was transported to and operated on at another hospital in the city, which is said to have been closer to the front line in the besieged city.

When she realized that she was about to lose her unborn child, she must have cried and shouted “kill me now!”.

On the operating table, it became clear that the pelvis was broken and the hip was torn, according to ABC.

When the woman and the child were declared dead, the man and her father are said to have retrieved the body.

– At least someone came to pick her up, so she did not end up in one of the many mass graves that are made in Mariupol, as a result of the rapidly increasing number of dead, personnel at the hospital that operated on the woman must have said.

In addition to the pregnant woman, a six-year-old is said to have died.

Russian authorities first denied that the attack had taken place. They later claimed that it was staged.

The pictures of the wounded Mariana Vishergirskaya, who survived the attack, went around the world after the bombing. The Russians later claimed that she was an actress, and that the attack was “fake news”. Two days later she gave birth to her daughter Veronika.

– Humanitarian disaster

On the same day that Vishergirskaya gave birth to her daughter, the Ukrainian Foreign Minister reports that almost 1,600 civilians have been killed in Mariupol.

– The besieged Mariupol is now the world’s worst humanitarian catastrophe.

Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba wrote on Twitter on Friday night.

Unable to defeat the Ukrainian army, Putin bombs the defenseless and blocks humanitarian aid, Kuleba wrote on Twitter, attaching a photo of one of several mass graves in the city.

To the Russian state news agency Tass, Russia’s defense ministry describes the city as “completely surrounded”, reports Sky News.

NTB also writes that several hundred thousand people are trapped and surrounded by Russian soldiers in the cities of Izium, Volnovakha or Mariupol.

On Friday, MSF reports that hundreds of thousands of people have been detained, describing the situation as desperate.

– Siege is a medieval practice that with good reason has been illegal warfare in modern times, said Stephen Cornish, leader of MSF in Switzerland, according to NTB.

– No longer exists

The deputy mayor of the city, Serhij Orlov, also made gloomy statements about the state of Mariupol:

– I do not know how to describe the destruction in our city. The city no longer really exists, Orlov told the German national broadcaster ARD on Friday, according to NTB.

While extensive evacuations are taking place elsewhere in Ukraine, this is impossible in Mariupol, which is completely surrounded by Russian forces.

The city will be totally cut off from receiving new supplies, and it is reported that the captured inhabitants lack both water, heat and electricity.
