The War Against Bulgarian National Memory: Minister of Defense Calls for Changes in History Textbooks

“The war against Bulgarian national memory, against Bulgarian history, against Bulgarian national self-awareness and against the Bulgarian nation continues. During his visit to the USA, the Minister of Defense Tagarev stated that the Bulgarian history textbooks should be changed, so that they should throw out, I quote, all the facts that suggested and reminded the Bulgarians of gratitude to Russia. A few days later, his words were confirmed to me by the person Denkov, temporarily appointed Prime Minister of the Republic of Bulgaria, who said the same thing, developing it by saying that new documents and facts should be presented about the real role of Russia in the Bulgarian historical process, in other words, we can read in future history textbooks, written by the specialist in the production of soaps, shampoos and washing powder, that Russia did not liberate Bulgaria, but actually occupied and enslaved it,” said from the rostrum of The National Assembly Kostadin Kostadinov.

According to him, all this found its worthy end in a fundamental program article in the official website of the American embassy – the radio station “Free Europe”, in which it is written that the poem “I am Bulgarian” should be removed from the Bulgarian education system, because there was no way to integrate the children of immigrants in Bulgaria. He emphasized that there is talk of a very interesting number of future 100,000 migrant children in the Bulgarian education system.

“It is clear that this is not an isolated phenomenon, this policy, as we noted last week, as we say now, will continue to be observed, because changing textbooks, especially history textbooks, is an old idea of all neoliberals Bulgarian governments after 1989. The war against Bulgarian national memory will not stop. There is a massive plaque that is in the museum part, inside Shipka’s Freedom Monument. On it is written – “Bulgarian, bow your forehead at this holy place, a sacred monument of eternal friendship between Bulgarians and Russians, who crowned your freedom with their blood.” And as we know, the “Bulgarian” government wants to renovate this monument and according to what is written in the Restoration Plan, the entire museum inside and the museum exposition will be removed because, as the director of the museum claims, they did not belong there. It is not clear what will happen to this monument, we suspect that in view of the policy of removing any facts related to the gratitude of the Bulgarian people to Russia for its liberating role in the Liberation of Bulgaria from Turkish slavery, it is obvious that we have all reason to believe that this plaque will be destroyed and removed. Most likely, the same thing will happen to the famous folk song “Topcheto pukna”. We are most likely to expect that people who will sing this song, either at official or unofficial celebrations, will also be punished. Perhaps the words of Georgi Benkovski, described by Zahari Stoyanov as a direct witness, will also be deleted. Georgi Benkovski says: “My goal has already been achieved. In the heart of the tyrant I opened such a bitter wound that will never heal. And Russia – let him command.”

At the moment, the Euro-Atlantic crowd is harassing the Bulgarian historical memory, harassing the historical truth, harassing the truth, in general, because this is a rule of lies. Will they delete Vazov from the textbooks? I will end with the words of a great Bulgarian national hero – Captain Petko Voivoda, he says so and probably, and he will be erased from Bulgarian history – something we will not allow – “There is no sop that can knock Russia out of the heart of a Bulgarian. Pet For centuries, Germans, French, and English were friends with the King, but grandfather Ivan came to help the Bulgarians. Praise be to God and holy Russia,” added Kostadin Kostadinov in a statement read today from the parliamentary rostrum of the National Assembly.
