One person was seriously injured in the area of the Martinlaaksontie power plant on Monday, the rescue service informs.
According to the rescue service, the accident happened when the person had been dismantling an oil tank. The wall of the tank collapsed on top of the person.
According to the rescue service, a total of five units were sent to the scene.
Firefighter on duty at Central Uusimaa rescue service Arto Pirinen tells Iltalehti that, according to his estimation, it was a heavy oil tank about ten meters high. According to Pirinen, part of the person’s body was left under the collapsed wall of the tank during the demolition work.
There had been another person working there, and according to Pirinen, he was able to help the person out of the clamps.
Pirinen says that the person was rescued half an hour after the alarm. According to him, the accident site was challenging, and it was difficult to rescue a person from under the collapsed wall.
– He was seriously injured, another person was able to help him out and the rescue team transferred him to the first aid.
