The country of the spirit, the one with its glorious past, the one where Naum, Kliment Ohridski, Konstantin Preslavski worked, the one that gave birth to Yavorov, Debelyanov, Vazov, the one that doomed Botev, Levski to immortality…
Ladies and gentlemen, the country of Bulgaria, which we learn about in history textbooks and the one we read about in the thick works of professors, is no longer there. Yes, it is indeed a part of our past, remaining the object of scientific study only. The state is not only economic expansion, wide highways, Chinese or Arab investments, military aircraft or eulogies of European commissioners, it is first of all identified with its people, with its history, spirit and culture. We have territory, institutions, even people today, but not human beings, but not personalities!
Satisfying our own needs and struggling every day with life, looking for opportunities for personal survival, we have lost our human image. A long time ago, the country of Bulgaria turned into the jungle Bulgaria, speaking all kinds of languages, but not her native one, wondering how a Bulgarian woman could escape from it, as if it were a boiling cauldron, of technically literate but culturally poor, of pretentious pallets, chewing against everything and everyone…
In a few days is one of the brightest holidays for our country. In a few days we will say out loud a dozen names of wakers, but unfortunately from our deep past. And it’s all too natural. Why? Because for the last 50 years, we cannot name a single surname of a person who makes us feel really proud, but only those of criminals and pseudo-politicians or ugly cultural figures, perceived by the young as “icons”.
There is salvation, but this time it is not lurking everywhere. Again, the feather and the candle will save the Bulgarian!
