48 years on the board
Günther Kellnreitner had been a member of the city council since 1973 and was elected mayor of the market town of Gaflenz for the first time in 1985. Numerous projects have been implemented during his tenure. Municipal roads were renovated, freight roads built and the federal highway expanded. At that moment the construction of the sewer began. The Heiligenstein, Gaflenz’s landmark, was supplied with electricity and water. In 1987, the first residential complex in Styria was built and in 1989 the company building site in the Oberland was also acquired. 1990 was the “850 years of Gaflenz” anniversary year and went down in history with 100 events.
Gaflenz as a guest
The creation of jobs and living space has always been a primary concern for the ÖVP politician. Representing Gaflenz as a gracious residential community is always his motivation for numerous discussions, funding requests, projects and events. Former Mayor Kellnreitner was a guarantee for the successful development of Gaflenz and always had an open ear for the citizens. By organizing numerous national and international events, he has made Gaflenz known far beyond the borders.
