This past weekend, the Wadokan Martial Arts Club of Durango lived an unforgettable experience by attending the awards gala for national martial arts champions organized by the OEKAM Federation, which took place in Torrejón de Ardoz (Madrid). An event that celebrated the best of this discipline at a national level and in which the club stood out outstandingly.
The town club was represented by a group of seven outstanding martial artists who managed to get on the podium in the tournament organized by the Kajukenbo Club of Torrejón, directed by Sifu Cristina Álvarez. The champions, who won the gold medal in their respective categories, were Amanda Barrera, Pablo Guturbay, Alex Radoucu, Itzal Merin, Leire Vadillo, Eider Lizundia and Ainhoa Bilbao. In recognition of their dedication, effort and sportsmanship, each of them received an award that commemorated their success and sacrifice in the competition.
In an equally significant act, Sensei José Luis Salas, head of the Wadokan school, was awarded the “Teacher of the Year” award for his tireless work in training and leadership within the martial arts, as well as for his commitment to the values that represent the Wadokan family.
The gala, which brought together martial artists from different clubs, was experienced as an emotional evening, full of camaraderie and respect, in which smiles and joy were the common denominator. The event highlighted the true sense of unity and lifestyle that martial arts bring to those who practice them, unifying everyone under the same goal: personal and collective improvement.
The Wadokan Club continues to demonstrate its strength both on a competitive and human level, proudly carrying the values that define its school and offering its members comprehensive training that goes beyond the technical aspect, cultivating respect, discipline and camaraderie.
