VTube licensing process

In the video, it is said that currently VTube is working on licensing so that it can operate legally in Indonesia.

It is said, the licensing that is being processed is claimed to have been 99 percent and only 1 percent remains.

In response to this, the Head of the Investment Alert Task Force ( SWI) Tongam L. Tobing, said that his party admitted that he did not know the extent of the permit application process carried out by VTube.

“We do not know the progress of their licensing, but until now VTube is still on the list of illegal investments,” said Tongam when contacted. Kompas.com, Wednesday (24/2/2021).

In the video, the name Tongam is also mentioned. Someone in the video says that VTube has received an official letter from SWI, which is signed by Tongam.

However, Tongam said that he did not know what letter the video meant.

“I also do not know what letter the video means, for sure VTube is still on the list of illegal investments to date,” said Tongam.

SWI recommendation to VTube

Previously, SWI had issued five recommendations related to the VTube normalization process, namely:

• Ordering the existing communities
• Do not use foreign currency
• There is no system member get member or referral point
• Points are not purchased from other users, but through the company directly
• Manage servers in Indonesia

“We conveyed that VTube should implement the Task Force’s recommendations,” said Tongam.

Money game indicated

SWI had previously included VTube, which is under PT Future View Tech, on the list of illegal investments since June 2020.

Then, the Ministry of Communication and Informatics (Kominfo) officially blocked the VTube website on Sunday (14/2/2021).

This blocking was carried out at the request of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) because it was indicated as a money game scheme.

In VTube there is a referral scheme where VTube members can get additional points by inviting other people to join and upgrade mission levels.

These points are also earned by members from watching advertisements on VTube.

Later, points owned by members, can be traded between members, and can be used to move up the rankings, which allows members to get more points.

Similar to MLM

According to the Chairman of SWI, Tongam L. Tobing, the existing scheme on VTube is similar to that used in the direct selling business, known as multi-level marketing (MLM).

Tongam said that applications with this scheme and mode do not have clear legality.

“It could be that the license is only compiled, even though the activities or products carried out are not in accordance with the permit,” said Tongam.

Tongam said VTube users who feel aggrieved by the platform can report to the police.

“If they are harmed, they could be complained of allegations of fraud or embezzlement,” said Tongam.
