The Secretary of State for the Interior Stefan Sauer handed over a contribution of 248,000 euros to the mayor of the city of Groß-Bieberau, Dorothea Vogt.

With the grant, the Hessian state government is supporting the purchase of a new fire engine for the volunteer fire brigade in Groß-Bieberau (Darmstadt-Dieburg district). This is a DLAK 23/12 revolving ladder vehicle.
Strengthen fire protection

“There is no comparable volunteer position where courage, strength and perseverance are combined with technical understanding and the ability to work in a team and where volunteers stand up for others by putting their own health at risk and in extreme situations. They are the guarantors of non-police defense against dangers in our cities and communities. That is why we provide our comrades, such as the Groß-Bieberau Volunteer Firefighters, with the modern and indispensable resources they need to help other people. We can all be happy that there are so many dedicated volunteers here in Groß-Bieberau who work for fire protection and thus the safety of citizens. Financial support of a total of 248,000 euros to reinforce fire protection in Groß-Bieberau is being invested in the right way, “says Secretary of State Stefan Sauer.

The DLAK 23/12 is the most common and at the same time most characteristic air rescue vehicle of firefighters. The ladder and the rescue cage can be extended up to 23 meters.

background

The state government of Hesse supports the purchase of fire fighting vehicles and the expansion and new construction of fire stations to an unprecedented extent. To underline the inestimable value of the voluntary work of the approximately 80,000 collaborators of the firefighters and civil protection of Hesse and to support the work of volunteers on site even better, the state decided years ago to further increase investments: precisely the Guaranteed sum for fire protection in Hesse could be increased this year to 43 million euros.
The district of Darmstadt-Dieburg has benefited from the increase in the amount of the guarantee for fire protection: in the last two years a total of 38 vehicles and five structural interventions have been financed for a total amount of around 3.5 million euros.
