Aesthetic care services aimed at oncology patients is a practice found, internationally, in health agencies and institutions. These services, as unrelated as they may seem at first glance, aim to strengthen the oncology patient psychologically, in order to go through the difficult and often lonely path of his treatment as painlessly as possible.
This unique, in Greece, synergy between the nursing and medical staff of PAGNI, the Association “I live with Cancer” and the Association of Certified Estheticians of Crete results in a space within the hospital being transformed every Monday in a place of well-being, love and care with beneficial, apparently, therapeutic effects.
Patients are left in the experienced hands of volunteer beauticians, finding an oasis of relief during their treatments. Vima’s journalist, Iliana Danezitravels to Crete to get to know the volunteers of this initiative, the doctors who embraced it and of course the patients who are hosted every Monday in a “beauty salon” unlike any other in Greece.
