The flagship sedan and station wagon ID.6 foreshadowed the concepts of ID Vizzion and ID Space Vizzion from 2016.

In 2023, the serial version is to complement the existing models of the ID family. So the currently sold hatchback ID.3, SUV ID.4, coupe-SUV ID.5 expected next year and a large MPV derived from the study ID Buzz expected in 2022.

According to Autocar, ID.6 will stand up to the future in the middle class BMW i4 whose Mercedesu EQE. The size of the body is supposed to mimic the current passat, but thanks to the modular “skateboard” platform, it is supposed to offer a space inside comparable to the Phaeton limousine, which it stopped selling in 2016.

ID.6 will be offered with one rear wheel drive engine or two engines for all wheel drive. This concerns the powerful GTX model, which Welsch said will be able to accelerate from zero to 100 km / h in approximately 5.6 seconds.

Welsch also shared other technical details. A battery pack with a capacity of up to 84 kWh is expected, which should be enough for up to 700 km range per charge. In addition, Volkswagen wants to implement charging with an output of up to 200 kW. In 10 minutes, the car should charge for another 230 km.

Production should start in Emden, from where it is planned to move just a passat. The traditional model will be created in Bratislava alongside the Škoda Superb. According to the latest speculations, however, he could only survive in the form of a station wagon.
