Candidate for “The Voice” this year, rapper The Vivi makes his mea culpa after the exhumation of old racist tweets. Saying “ashamed”, he apologized on his Instagram account.
The young man, who caused a sensation on Saturday night with his cover of “Social Suicide” of Orelsan turning the four jurors around and joining in the wake of Vianney’s team, was once again talked about on Sunday . But not for the right reasons. Earlier in the morning, several tweets written by the rapper in 2017 and relayed on Twitter created controversy. At issue: questionable posts relating his relationship with an 11-year-old girl when The Vivi was 17 and racist messages in the form of so-called “jokes”. Among them, it was notably possible to read “What is an Arab without a hand?” An anti-theft ”. To extinguish the criticism, The Vivi, who said he was “ashamed”, was quick to apologize on his Instagram account.
“Since this morning, I see old tweets that stand out that I wrote when I was 17 years old. As I reread these messages, I feel a sense of shame. These are the comments of a reckless teenager that send shivers down my spine. I didn’t mean a word of what I wrote. I apologize to all the people that I could offend with these shameful messages ”writes the young man, now aged 21, who has also closed his Twitter account.
This is not the first time that the tweets of a candidate for the TF1 show are controversial. In 2018, the young Menell had also been criticized for messages posted a few years earlier, this time following the Nice attacks. In front of the strong reactions, the young woman had at the time made the choice to leave the show.
