In Washington, they announced the visit of Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Karen Donfried to Ukraine and Russia. Her meeting with senior officials is scheduled for December 13-15.

What questions will Donfried raise:

• building up Russia’s military power near the border with Ukraine;
• US dedication to the cause of Ukraine, its sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity;
• diplomatic settlement of the armed conflict in eastern Ukraine through the implementation of the Minsk agreements and support for the Normandy format.

“Donfried will then travel to Brussels on December 15-16 to consult with NATO allies and EU partners on efforts to find a diplomatic solution,” the press service wrote.
