Doha, 15 December (EFE).- French striker Randal Kolo Muani, who scored his team’s second goal against Morocco, has downplayed the importance of facing Argentine Lionel Messi in the World Cup final.
“I’ve already played against him at Nantes and it hasn’t changed my life. I don’t think he’s going to change now,” he said.
The 24-year-old forward stressed that Messi was one of the footballers he watched on television as a child and considers him “a great player”. If it’s his turn to jump on the grass, he said, he’ll try to enjoy himself.
The Eintranch Frankfurt striker described being able to score in a semi-final of the World Cup as “magical”: “As a child I dreamed of doing it, now I feel great pride for myself, but also for my family, for the city . I hope I can play in the final. If the coach asks me, I’ll be ready.”
Kolo Muani acknowledged that excitement within the group builds as the final approaches, but he appreciated the veterans’ advice to ‘keep your feet on the ground’.
