The virus is on the decline. In Aube, the incidence rate even leaps back 25.1 points over three days (181.7 cases per 100,000 inhabitants). In the Grand Est, it is down 14.6 points (179.3). In France, it is down 9 points (189.2). This is excellent news that will have to be confirmed in the coming days, but which could finally release the epidemic pressure and relieve the hospitals.
Moselle remains under pressure
In detail, we see that the departments most affected in January are those which now display the lowest incidence rates. The Ardennes even fell to 119.4 cases per 100,000 inhabitants! Another interesting observation: the incidence rate in people over 65 is now shown to be lower than the rate for the general population (140 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in Aube). The first effects of vaccination may be felt.
The only downside: Moselle, a department facing an epidemic of South African and Brazilian variants. The incidence rate does not panic but remains high at 281 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
Four deaths in the Aube
In terms of health, the situation continues to improve in the Grand Est region, where there are 2,536 patients, far from the 3,000 at the beginning of February. In Aube, the improvement is more modest, like the slightest decline in the epidemic for several days.
On the death side, unfortunately, four more people were victims of the virus this weekend. Aube now has 294 deaths in hospital since the start of the epidemic.
