With an incidence rate well above the average in Occitania, Ariège is one of the departments most affected by Covid-19 in the region.

With 127 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, the incidence rate of Covid-19 in Ariège is well above the Occitan average, which is, as of September 20, at 76 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. According to the figures of the regional health agency, the national incidence rate is 79 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. In the department, it is the 10-20 age group that is the most affected, with 238 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

An above-average Covid-19 positivity rate in Ariège

192 cases have been identified in the department over the past 7 days. A still sustained circulation of the virus which is verified by the positivity rate of the tests. At 2.4%, it is a point above the average in Occitania.
At the same time, the vaccination campaign is continuing in Ariège. More than 110,000 inhabitants, out of a total population of 157,000, already have a complete vaccination course.
