While the vaccination campaign is underway and health authorities are gauging the behavior of the variants, which are spreading rapidly, by apprehending a third wave of COVID-19, the virus is observed to be oscillating up as much as down, in the municipalities of the Lower Laurentians.
MRC de Thérèse-De Blainville
As it does every week, the public health of the Laurentians has unveiled its weekly data, cumulated between March 18 and 25, on the evolution of the virus in the municipalities covering this territory. While a red flag was raised, towards the end of the last week (Quebec had a notable increase in new cases, Thursday and Friday), 109 people had received a positive result in the MRC of Thérèse-De Blainville (157,300 inhabitants), for a cumulative of 5,628 since the start of the pandemic. During the same period, if we take the balance of new cases and cures, only one active case was added (there were 111).
Nearly a quarter of these new cases (28) appeared in Blainville, which will have accumulated 1,906 over the past year. There are 27 active cases there, an increase of two in a week. During the same period, 18 cases were added, in Sainte-Thérèse, for a total of 1,043, while there were 22 active cases (+6). In addition, if 20 Boisbriannais received a positive result, for a cumulative of 972, the active cases borrowed a downward curve, going from 34 to 21.
In the other towns of the MRC, the situation is as follows: Rosemère, 489 cases (+13) and 12 active cases (+4); Sainte-Anne-des-Plaines, 468 cases (+10) and 7 active cases (-11); Bois-des-Filion, 398 cases (+12) and 14 active cases (+9); Lorraine, 352 cases (+8) and 8 active cases (+4).
MRC of Deux-Montagnes
In this MRC of 98,203 souls, it is the city of Saint-Eustache which has recorded the most positive cases since the start of this health crisis, with a cumulative of 1,619, an increase of 26, between the 18 and March 25. On the other hand, the number of active cases decreased slightly, from 24 to 23. Two weeks ago, moreover, the number of active cases was still at 24.
However, the virus has regained strength in Sainte-Marthe-sur-le-Lac, when 18 citizens have tested positive. There were also 16 active cases, up from 9. During this time, 12 new cases appeared in Deux-Montagnes, for a total of 476, while there were 11 active cases (-3).
Mirabel
Finally, in Mirabel, which is both MRC and municipality (59,612 inhabitants), the cumulative number of cases is now 1,723 (+19), while there are 24 active cases (-7).
