The Virginie Bluzet case, named after the young girl whose body was found in Verdun-sur-le-Doubs in March 1997, has just been transferred to the “cold case” center in Nanterre. This is dedicated to unresolved cases.
It is a case that has remained unsolved since February 7, 1997. That day, Virginie Bluzet, 21, went missing after leaving by car, in Beaune (Côte-d’Or), with her boyfriend. of the time.
In March of the same year, the body of the young woman was found in Verdun-sur-le-Doubs (Saône-et-Loire), in the Saône, handcuffed and gagged. The perpetrator of the crime has never been identified.
The investigating chamber of the Dijon Court of Appeal authorized this Wednesday, September 13, the transfer of the file to the “cold case” center in Nanterre, 26 years after the events. This unit, created in March 2022, includes three magistrates dedicated to unresolved cases.
Several avenues had been mentioned in this file. The boyfriend was initially suspected. He ultimately benefited from a dismissal of the case. Then the case was closed in 2002.
The trail of Pascal Jardin, already sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of Christelle Blétry in 1996, was also mentioned, as was that of Michel Fourniret. The victim’s father, Michel Bluzet, fought and obtained the reopening of the file in 2009 by requesting the examination of seals that had until then been neglected.

The investigation was relaunched by the Dijon Court of Appeal in 2020. On June 28, the investigating chamber deliberated the transfer of this case to the “cold case” unit.
The lawyer for the victim’s father, Didier Seban, now says “relieved” that this file be transferred and “very satisfied” . This is one of the last unresolved Saône-et-Loire files to be transferred to this new center. Michel Bluzet, father of Virginie Bluzet, had indicated that he “waited” this decision, seen “as a last hope”.
