A Bayonnein the province of Pontevedra, is separated by more than 800 kilometers from Bayonne, located in the French Basque Countryalthough this Tuesday it has dawned closer than ever.
On the occasion of the tenth stage of The Return Between Ponteareas and Baiona, a sports newspaper wanted to reveal the town that would host the finish line, but unfortunately it got confused in its query and chose the Bayonne of the French Basque Country.
“This is Bayonne, the picturesque city in the French Basque Country where the Vuelta a España stage ends today”read the headline. Social media, always quick and merciless, automatically echoed the error and the news disappeared from the web.
But the trail of confusion, now converted into viral, remained in Google searches and in the screenshots that many users of networks such as X, formerly Twitter, have not stopped sharing.
