Noticia NO, NOTICIÓN !!!, have the first preview before my eyes (and my ears) of the new album THE VINTAGE CARAVAN. The song is entitled “Whispers” and will be part of the fifth studio album by those beardless Icelanders from Álftanes who have become real heavyweights of the Vintage Rock and Stoner Prog scene. I have to confess that I feel very proud and privileged to be contemporary of the evolution of the band record after record since I was hit hard with the discovery of Voyage (2014), his second album, which I discovered in that defunct weekly game called ‘Por Amor a la Música’ in which several of my colleagues in Rock, The Best Music posed ‘challenges’ on our respective blogs. His third job, Arrival (2015) It became my favorite album of that year and the realization that the band of Óskar Logi (vocals, guitar), Alexander Orn (bass, vocals) and Stefán Ari (drums, vocals) had come to stay and make history. With Gateways (2018), their first album on a big label like the Danish Nuclear Blast, confirmed their class and power with an album that experimented even more with their prog rock facet but also raised the most accessible songs the band had ever composed. We move on to the present …
They were very quiet, but of course, with this fucking ‘viral apocalypse’, they must have been up to something … and they have been! Just over a week ago, the band released the aforementioned “Whispers” which will be the theme that will open their fifth work which will be titled Monuments (2021) and that will be published by Nuclear Blast on April 16. Apparently and by statements of the band, the album will combine more than ever its known good taste for the Vintage Rock Stoner seventies with more ‘modern’ moments in arrangements and composition. Here you have on the left the album cover, quite conceptual in its approach and going back to its iconic ‘caravan’. It is not that it convinces me too much but, in short, the strength of the band and where they never disappoint is with what is inside, do not have the slightest doubt …
Regarding “Whispers”, the clip is shot in the band’s own studio at their new headquarters in Soderborg, Denmark, near the German border and the big label they belong to. You can already appreciate both musically and visually that the band wants to take center stage because they and only they come out rocking like possessed in the clip and that they have taken a forceful and explosive theme with a house brand chorus that invites us to think that we are facing another GIGANTE album by Óskar Logi. Here I leave you with him, enjoy it !!! …
