The village events of 1956 are recalled in the Szentendre Skanzen – Dunakanyar Region

The everyday life of the fifties and the village events of the 1956 revolution will be brought to life in the thematic program series ’56 in the village’ at the Szabadtér Ethnography Museum in Szentendre between October 21 and 23, the museum announced to MTI on Monday.

As pointed out in the announcement, part of the museum’s gates were the scene of the rural events of the 1956 revolution. At the historical points, visitors can learn about the events that took place at the given location during the holiday weekend.
At Faddi’s house in the Southern Transdanubia landscape, visitors can learn that during the revolution, food and clothing were collected in the village for the Budapest revolutionaries.
At the Ásványrárói house of the Kisalföld landscape unit, it turns out that one of the victims of the massacre in Mosonmagyaróvár came from this village, and Jánossomorja on the border was one of the escape routes for those fleeing to the West, hoping for a better life, after the revolution was crushed.
In the Hajdúbagos house of the Alföld landscape unit, those interested can dress up in 1950s clothes, tour the “villages” in military uniforms, and taste nettle stew in the Bagladi kitchen.
During the craft programs, children can get a taste of the material world of the 1950s. They can sew rag dolls, make potato prints, make button footballs, but they can also string national-colored bracelets from beads.
There will also be thematic guided tours related to ’56, as well as bike tours around the mills renovated in the year of the Skanzen Mill, the announcement states.
