The vigilance committee of the Baie-Saint-Paul hospital reacts to the closure of the emergency room

Like Mr. Fortin, the committee considers this closure of the emergency room unacceptable, the demonstration of its necessity and its importance having already been strongly documented over the past few years, both for the population and in connection with ever-growing tourist activity in our region.

In light of the reasons mentioned – the problems of manpower and staff exhaustion, the geographical location of the Baie-Saint-Paul Hospital and the distance between the two hospitals of La Malbaie and Sainte-Anne de Beaupré – the committee underlines the great concern of the population for what will happen next: what will happen after September 11 and what will be the future of the Baie-Saint-Paul emergency in this context?

The members of the committee are attentive to the search for solutions of the CIUSS to keep open the emergency full-time. They particularly salute all the staff members who offered their collaboration and submitted constructive possibilities for a solution. The committee invites the leaders of the CIUSSS to listen to these different alternatives and to analyze them positively, for the benefit of the population.

The committee hopes for a positive outcome of this situation and intends to continue over the next few days to mobilize the population to ensure fair and safe service throughout the territory of Charlevoix-Côte-de-Beaupré.
