The Vienna Vikings made an exclamation mark with their B-Team after the poor showing against Fehervar and the subsequent firing of the offensive coordinator in Prague.
Head Coach’s team sat down in the Czech metropolis Chris Calaycay with 55:9 clear against the Prague Lions and still rested a good part of his starters. The young quarterback from Salzburg was outstanding Andreas Reischl (240 Yards Passing 2TDs + 32 Yards Rushing, TD) und der Grazer Daniel Schoenet with 188 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns. On the receiver side things happened John Schuetz (123 yards receiving, TD) and Tight End caught the second Reischl TD Rudi-Lee Frey. Also RB Kevin Wojta (11 runs for 104 yards and 1 TD) knew how to convince. Overall offense stats: 583 yards, 26 first downs, 7 touchdowns. Other Viennese highlights: A safety by Leonel Misangumukini at the start of the game and a PAT return for two points from Leo Gerner.
The Czechs, who made few mistakes apart from an interception by QB Fields, had little to counter the unleashed Viennese. Until halftime (9:27) they were still able to keep up halfway, but then conceded 33 unanswered points after their last score from a Viennese team who played freely.
The Vikings are entering a bye week and will find out who their opponent will be in the semifinals on September 16th at the Generali Arena this upcoming wild card weekend.
