The video on the “harmful effects of miswak” features a “doctor” who strongly discourages its use.

Al-Marsad Newspaper: Dr. Muhammad Al-Safi revealed the harms of the miswak, and advised against using it and replacing it with a brush and toothpaste.

He said during an interview with the “Al-Liwan” program: “The siwak is scientifically insufficient for oral care, as it does not clean all surfaces of the teeth and is limited to the outer surface, while the teeth need to clean 5 surfaces: the internal, external, upper, lower and between the teeth.”

He continued, “A study conducted at a Saudi university showed that the wrong use of toothpicks leads to receding gums and the spread of sensitivity.”

He pointed out that it is better not to use toothpicks, and he went on to say: “I am convinced that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, if he had putty and a brush available, he would have used them, because it is a better method of care.”

And he continued: “But whoever wants to use the siwak in application of the Sunnah, can use the siwak once or twice a day for a minute or two.”
