The death toll of suicides due to the online lending terror in Surabaya has risen again. On Friday evening (14/10/2022), visitors and employees of Tunjungan Plaza were shocked by the action of a woman with the initials ADR (24) who jumped from the parking lot on the 3rd floor.
AKP Marji Wibowo, head of the Tegalsari Police Criminal Investigation Unit, said the victim desperately wanted to end her life because she couldn’t stand it and was stressed out by the terror committed by the loan shark.
“So he has a problem with a lot of pinjols. Maybe there are bills that scare, stress and eventually commit suicide,” Marji said when confirmed on Saturday (10/15/2022).
Seen by the CCTV cameras of the building, the victim suddenly found himself on the 3rd floor of the TP 1 car park and immediately jumped. At that time the condition of the parking lot was dark and deserted because it was close to the closing time of the shopping center, which was 10pm at night.
“The victim is estimated to have jumped around 10:05 pm,” he added.
The victim, who also works as an employee in one of the mall’s outlets, has a debt of five million and seven million rupees. Marji explained that because the victims were often threatened through communication devices, they were afraid and not strong.
“Friends of the victim said there was a debt in the two loans and that he was often threatened,” he said.
Note that this is not the first time he has committed suicide in Surabaya. Last Saturday (9/10/2022), GRD, 30, a hospital nurse, hanged himself in her bathroom. because he was entangled in a pinjol.
