“It’s a very color film, we haven’t done anything like that before. But everything is for the first time, “confided the cinematographer Vladimír Smutný.
–
“We gave each character and her story their own range of colors. We observe them in costumes, props and decoration colors. As the characters and their stories meet, new and often really beautiful combinations emerge. Our film is a comedy full of imagination and such a genre is directly concerned with color opulence, “added the film’s director Jan Svěrák.

Even the cast is very “colorful”. In addition to the actors with whom Svěrák likes and often collaborates, such as Daniela Kolářová or Ondřej Vetchý, the audience will also see several new faces in the Bethlehem Light.
–
For example, non-actor Martin Polišenský or the mysterious Danish actress Patricia Schumann.
–
This company will be joined by Vojtěch Kotek or Vladimír Javorský, who met Jan Svěrák for the first time at work, but as he says, certainly not for the last time.
–
“They’re both great comedians and real stars. I’m looking forward to the audience feeling their glow on the screen, “the director confided.

Jan Svěrák’s favorite short stories were the inspiration for the script.
–
“I enjoy that the characters from my various short stories in the film meet in new and unexpected situations. It is a unifying element for the film and I hope it will be fun for the audience, “explained Zdeněk Svěrák, who in this comedy with elements of magical realism serves universal issues of human life with exaggeration and humor.
–
“We have nothing better than humor against grief,” Svěrák concluded.

Architect Jan Vlasák and costume designer Simona Rybáková also took part in the film, and the editor of the family tradition, the son of the director and the grandson of the main character, editor František Svěrák, took over the editing for the first time.
