Deputy Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia for India, Ferdy Nico Yohannes Piay, died after being exposed to Covid-19. The news was conveyed by the Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) RI Teuku Faizasyah.
“One of the best sons of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Ferdy Nico Yohannes Piay, Charge d’Affaires for Add Interim (KUAI) / DCM of the Indonesian Embassy in New Delhi, has passed away due to COVID-19,” Teuku told the media via text message, Wednesday (26/5).
Sad news was also conveyed by the official Twitter account of the Indonesian Embassy (KBRI) in New Delhi. The account uploaded a short video that made a photo of Ferdy and his condolences.
“The family of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in New Delhi mourn the passing of one of our best leaders,” wrote the account @KBRI_NewDelhi.
The account continued, “The leadership, exemplary, and kindness that you have poured out during your assignment in India we will remember forever.”
India since mid-April has been hit by the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, with total cases reaching 26.95 million with 300 thousand more dead. On Tuesday (25/5) yesterday, the daily increase reached 196 thousand cases with an increase in deaths of 3,511 cases.
