40 municipalities crossed, 9 inter-community of municipalities, a great popular festival … “The Via Rhôna Experience” offers a sporting event open to all, built around the route proposed by the Via Rhôna cycle-tourism route. The event will take place in September.

“The Via Rhôna Experience” is described by its organizers as “the first private event promoting the Via Rhôna”, this 815 km cycle route that stretches from Lake Geneva to the beaches of the Mediterranean.

This experience will be held on September 18 and 19, 2021, on the occasion of Heritage Days. The event aims to highlight a sporting practice, while drawing on the gastronomic, cultural, natural and industrial heritage offered by the Auvergne-Rhones-Alpes region. Throughout the course, participants will thus be able to benefit from “privileged access to tourist places” and appreciate the different “tastings of local products”.

In order to be accessible to families, groups of friends and residents, several routes are available:

  • La Citadine: 30 km route over half a day (Lyon – Miribel Jonage – Lyon)
  • The adventurer: 40-50 km course over a whole day (Morestel – Arandon – Ile de la Serre)
  • The enduring: 180-190 km course spread over 2 days, reserved for the most athletic (Seyssel / Lyon)

“Part of the profits made during the event will be redistributed to NGOs”, specifies Philippe Jullien, president of the association. The remaining profits will be reserved for the future development of the project and the “sustainability of future jobs for young people”.

Registration for the event will be possible via this site from June 21. The participation prices will be between 42 and 159 € depending on the type of route chosen.
