Professor Ovidiu Savu, from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Bucharest, who allegedly received money from students to pass exams, was sued for bribery and influence peddling.
The prosecutors of the Prosecutor’s Office of the High Court of Cassation and Justice (PICCJ) completed the investigations and sent the file to Ovidiu Savu, in pre-trial detention, at the Bucharest Tribunal.
According to the prosecutors’ indictment, during the 2015-2016 academic year, Ovidiu Savu, a teacher at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine within the University of Agronomic Sciences and Veterinary Medicine in Bucharest, demanded and received money from students, directly or through intermediaries, both for you declare yourself promoted to the exams of the year where he is the holder, as well as to influence other teachers to pass them.
Investigators claim that Ovidiu Savu took money from students in both the overdue and re-examination sessions, as well as for the practical test of the bachelor’s exam, which took place in July of this year.
The research, during which dozens of students were heard, showed that passing paid exams was a widespread practice of Ovidiu Savu, who did not declare students admitted to exams, regardless of how they treated the subjects, to determine them to give him money, according to prosecutors.
Ovidiu Savu was caught red-handed, after receiving, in his office at the faculty, 10,500 lei, money that was seized, as well as another 70,600 lei found during the searches made on July 28 at his home. Investigators also seized Savu’s bank accounts in order to recover the damage.
